At Pownal Center Community Church, we know that when a person has accepted Christ as his savior, a new life begins for that person. No matter one’s chronological age, each new believer is an infant in the Body of Christ. Our fallen, physical world is replete with dangers, traps and threats for that new believer. These dangers are found in both spiritual and temporal areas, for the Bible speaks of our enemy, satan, as “the god of this world”. Just as we would not send a toddler out to play on the Interstate, so we should not send the immature Christian out into the world unprepared.
Our Creator gave us free will, the power to choose whatever we wish to believe. This power is so great that it even allows us to deny Him – in entirety or in part, and certainly allows us to deny the power of our choices. When we take responsibility for our choices, in all areas from salvation right down to controlling our emotions and our desires, we open the door to walk as “more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
Our world does not teach us this accountability. Scripture alone teaches us how to use this God-given free will to make the decisions that result in communion with God and fellowship with each other. At Pownal Center Community Church, we seek to avoid “philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men…”(Col. 2:8)
Our mission in PCCC is simple. We wish to be the closest Christian family we can be, to worship together, to fellowship and learn together, always with our focus on deepening our wisdom and power as we walk by the Spirit. We know “the wisdom that is from above is first pure then peaceable, gentle and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”(James 3:17)
We aspire to present that wisdom to any who seek it.
